Guti Ready To Return For Real Madrid Against Osasuna

Post by egzonn on Fri Jan 16, 2009 2:13 am

After being sidelined for Real Madrid’s first two games of 2009, midfielder Guti has finally resumed normal training with the rest of the squad and has been given the green light to take to the field this Sunday against Osasuna.

The 32-year-old suffered a thigh muscle injury on the eve of Los Blancos’ first game of the year against Villarreal two weeks ago and he was promptly replaced in the starting line-up by the recently arrived Lassana Diarrà.

But there were rumours several days later that he had faked the injury after learning that he would not have started anyway against the Yellow Submarine, an accusation which was strongly denied as he remained sidelined the following week against Mallorca.

Madrid-based daily Marca now reports that the vice-captain resumed full training with the squad yesterday. After sitting out the morning session as a precautionary measure, the midfielder jogged onto the turf in the evening program and exercised at the same rate as the rest of his team-mates without any problems.

He will now be at coach Juande Ramos’ disposal although will most likely only start from the bench. Meanwhile, Diarrà, who himself is currently carrying a minor muscle overload, trained separately in the morning to avoid aggravating the niggle but, likewise, rejoined the squad’s normal session in the evening.

Madrid have no other fresh injury concerns and Juande should once again have a full-strength squad to choose from for Sunday’s 1700 CET kick-off with the La Liga cellar-dwellars, Osasuna, at the Santiago Bernabéu.
